According to Gazeta.uz, Uzbekistan's Senate has approved amendments to six codes and thirteen laws aimed at strengthening child protection in educational institutions. The amendments were drafted by the Social Protection Agency.
A teacher found guilty of physical or psychological violence against a child will be suspended from teaching for one year. The electronic staff-approval system will be configured to automatically block that teacher's re-hiring at another educational institution. Under the law, psychological violence includes insults, defamation, threats, humiliation, bullying, and restricting a child's basic needs.
Criminal cases involving minors will be heard in closed court sessions. Prospective foster parents will be required to complete up to 72 hours (about two weeks) of mandatory training and obtain certification.
The main stage of first-grade enrolment for the 2026/27 school year runs until 31 July. Applications are filed online, and both the document list and the grounds for refusal are strictly defined.
