Children of teachers will receive a 30% discount on the tuition contract at Uzbekistan's state universities starting from the 2026/2027 academic year. According to Gazeta.uz and Kun.uz, the procedure was approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 501 of 17 September 2026 and covers both newly admitted students and those already enrolled.
The benefit applies only to full-time bachelor's programmes at state higher education institutions and is granted once per academic year. If a teacher has several children studying on a paid contract basis at state universities, the discount applies to each child separately.
It does not apply to military and paramilitary universities, branches of foreign universities operating in Uzbekistan, non-state universities, or to additional and differentiated contracts and joint educational programmes with foreign partner universities.
Applications are submitted through the kontrakt.edu.uz system when the tuition payment contract is drawn up. The parent's status as a teacher is verified automatically via the interagency integration platform of the "Digital Government" system, the application is reviewed within two working days, and the contract amount is then recalculated. If the father or mother ceases to belong to the category of teachers, the benefit will no longer apply from the following academic year.
For families of teachers and kindergarten educators this is a direct saving on their children's higher education. Reports on the resolution do not specify which categories of teaching staff qualify — status is determined automatically from "Digital Government" data, so the easiest way to check eligibility is during the application itself on kontrakt.edu.uz.
