The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has approved the basic curricula for general education institutions for the 2026/27 school year, by order No. 133 of 10 April 2026. According to the education portal Idum.uz, the main change is a new subject in the fourth grade: Computer Science and Information Technology.
The basic curricula are approved separately for three groups of schools: those teaching in Uzbek, those teaching in Russian, and those teaching in related languages — Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik and Turkmen. Each curriculum comes with an explanatory note.
The Abdulla Avloniy National Institute for Pedagogical Excellence is running short online courses on the new subject for primary school teachers until 20 August 2026.
If a child is entering fourth grade, a new subject will appear on the timetable. The exact number of hours is set by the school according to the annexes to the order — worth asking the class teacher about at the first parents' meeting.
