The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has announced the start date of the 2026/2027 academic year. More than 795,000 first-graders will receive the "President's Gift" — a set of 12 school supplies.
Classes for the 2026/2027 academic year will begin on Wednesday, September 2, in all general education schools of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education announced.
More than 795,000 children will start school for the first time this year. Each first-grader will be ceremonially presented with the "President's Gift" — a set of 12 school supplies: notebooks, a pen, pencils, erasers, glue, colored pencils, colored paper, plasticine, an album, watercolors and a pencil case. According to Gazeta.uz, the sets were delivered to schools by August 25, and they will go not only to pupils of state schools but also to first-graders at more than 800 private educational institutions.
September 1 is Independence Day in Uzbekistan, so the school year traditionally starts after the holiday. Parents have just under two weeks left to finish getting ready. And if you are still choosing a school or kindergarten, the BeeKids catalog lets you compare institutions and read reviews from other parents.
